A Strategy for Socially Responsible Labour Practices in Vietnam
April 24 @ 8:30 AM - 12:15 PM
Vietnam has engaged in a growing number of bilateral and multilateral trade agreements and schemes as well as regional economic integration arrangements. These agreements contain several commitments of Vietnam relating to environment, business and trade conditions, the social and labour provisions related to workers’ rights. Especially, under the Article 19.7 – Corporate Social Responsibility of Chapter 19 – Labour of the CPTPP and the Article 3 of Chapter 15 of the EVFTA entitled “Trade and Sustainable Development”, Vietnam has made a commitment, in accordance with its obligations deriving from the membership of the ILO and the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and its Follow-up.
Together with ILO, EuroCham is pleased to organise the event: "A Strategy for Socially Responsible Labour Practices in Vietnam" on Wednesday 24 April.
The objectives of this workshop are:
- To raise awareness on the ILO MNE Declaration, 2017 as ILO only instrument offering guidelines to multinational enterprises, governments, and employers’ and workers’ organizations in such areas as employment, training, work and life conditions, industrial relation.
- The MNEs and national companies-suppliers exchange their current standards of labour and CSR practices including good socially responsible business practices, their capacities, challenges and their expectation of cooperation for comprehensive promotion of CSR/RBC in the supply chains in Vietnam.
- To identify the areas where synergy of both MNEs and national companies should be sought, including training, and discuss/ agree on a tentative strategy for CSR implementation.
