[Supported Event] Understand FTAs to Better Access EU & UK Markets – Collaboration’s Opportunities Between Singaporean & Vietnamese Businesses

August 28, 2021 @ 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Despite the impact of Covid-19 on global trade, European Union (EU) imports from Vietnam saw a 18.3 per cent increase in the first 10 months since the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVSFTA) came into force (period of August 2020 to June 2021). UK annual imports from Vietnam in 2020 amounted to 5 billion USD and are expected to reach at least 6 billion USD this 2021.

Representing about 10% of imported value into the EU (2-3 billion USD), agricultural and food processed products from Vietnam have clear evidence to expand further in the years to come.

Vietnam and Singapore are the two countries in ASEAN signing the FTAs with both the EU and the UK, which allowed the tariff-free for all goods originating from our two countries to access these markets.

Vietnam and Singapore SMEs in food industry are provided with relative advantages to strengthen the collaboration and further tap the benefits of these agreements.

To be organized on August 28, 2021, the Webinar on “Understand FTAs to better access EU and UK markets – Collaboration’s opportunities between Singaporean and Vietnamese businesses” will be a good opportunity for Singaporean businesses to understand Vietnam food industry and on how to collaborate with Vietnamese producers to reap the benefits from FTAs with EU and UK and make use of the annual quota for Asian food products with specialised rules of origin stipulated in the EUSFTA and UKSFTA.
